Very well, already about time eh?? it is sure that google also has noticed it and is leaving us in the last places of the searches ….f *** k or spider!!! :P !!

Well, to what we were going … approximately one month ago I have changed of work … I hope with it to have a little of life … I even am taking the rhythm, am beginning working with technologies different from those that it was accustomed, but good … it is always interesting to change airs and to learn cosituated piece of news ….tengo earring of beginning a series of posts ;) relaccionados with Informix of IBM … if if I have left Oracle … now when the aftertaste was beginning taking him.

On the other hand, I am working with Xen and how they had already commented to me on having come to the new work, we have a memory problemilla in the hosts, not in the VMs. Yesterday, the problem arose, the hosts are limited to 512MiB of RAM to leave the possible maximum free for the allocation to VMs. Analyzing the situation I realized that the problem is not in the Xen, if not in the demon of SNMP that after a few weeks working was using ~250MB of memory … obviously this it provokes the host that does swapping like a madman … Analizando la situación me di cuenta que el problema no esta en el Xen, si no en el demonio de SNMP que después de unas semanas funcionando estaba usando ~250MB de memoria…evidentemente esto provoca al host que haga swapping como un loco…

Very well, we are already here to assist to Magirus OpenHouse ’10 tomorrow to 9a.m. it will start.

Principally we have come for proper taste, not for work, although therefore it is possible to read, the event is much focused on quite concrete certain sectors. The two have registered like what we are, Systems analysts, and to see that it happens.

It looks that, at least I, me am going to like enough although I am afraid that it leaves me by half, since in this type of conferences it is not deepened very much and there happen many strokes of things that leave you drooling.

East is going to be rapid and brief but I hope that it should help you as to me. He needed to reduce a Volume Group (VG) to create other, the original (vggentoo) was composed by two devices RAID1 for software (md0 and md9).

Did the result of the operation have to be 2 VGs, vggentoo with md9 and vgkvm with md0 and as I have done it?

sergio@thor: ~ $ sweated vgdisplay-v vggentoo

We make sure that what we have occupied in md0 us fits in md9.

sergio@thor: ~ $ sweated pvmove - to and/dev/md0/dev/md9
/dev/md0: Move: 0.3 %
/dev/md0: Move: 0.6 %

This Christmastime we have decided to disconnect of everything and all and to go to see our first completely white Christmastime:) . The first stop was Oslo, in Norway, where we could enjoy a few completely covered with snow Christmastime but on the other hand slightly boring since apparently they have the very present Christmas customs and do not allow to be not at all open sea from December 24 until December 27, up to January 1 opening is quite optional.

For this motive we could neither see almost anything, just nor go shopping!!! once come the day of going away, we were taking little bad mouth flavor, not for Oslo if not for the holidays ….y we say that ….casualidades of the life we lost the flight back and for more coincidences of the life there appeared before us the option to we stay two more days in Oslo ….o for a reasonable price to go to London (where I was sure that the consumerism would be many present m's). una vez llegado el dia de irnos, nos llevabamos un poco de mal sabor de boca, no por Oslo si no por las vacaciones….y digamos que….casualidades de la vida perdimos el vuelo de vuelta y por más casualidades de la vida se nos presentó la opción de quedarnos dos días más en Oslo….o por un módico precio irnos a Londres (donde yo estaba seguro que el consumismo estaría mucho m´s presente).

Ubuntu: Creating virtual machines as staff

This time we are here to do a small manual for that we wait it is useful.

Virtual machines as Staff?

Yes! this way we will be able to have staff to be able to open basic machines, to be able to give service in the minor possible time.

What do we need?

This time we will work with Ubuntu and an available tool in his repositories python-vm-builder that will help us in the process of creation of the machine and LibVirt to be able to manage them better than by means of scripts.

Web: Monitoring repository

Good this time is going to be a very very very brief post, I want to mention to you a web that I have found not long ago. I believe that I have never commented on it, but the monitoring is one of my big passions, it is not that I like implementing it too much … as, many like playing, finding new checks, etc etc ….vaya what would have being playing;) Well, not long ago and I do not remember how it came to my firefox MonitoringForge really a little, I personally, it was taking a lot of time him turning, others existed like Nagios Exchange, etc but they had not just filled the gap that existed in this field … From here I wish them that they are fine everything and the whole community with interest on the monitoring to concentrate in making her work and her let's cite as an example type Source Forge or Fresh meat :)

Good either we are again here, already … either ….escribimos little, the truth is that we would like being able to write more but a little time and many things for doing are the cause of small movement in this blog, let's see if now with the veranito we can be writing more assiduously.:) Now, to the grain ….hoy we are going to tell how to gain access to a device ISCSI from a client CentOS, it is completely applicable to any other distribution of Linux that uses the same ISCSI initiator implementation (or what comes to be a client ISCSI) that CentOS.

Personnel: What fellings are the holidays!

Since yes, Ginger and I went away last week of mini holidays and the truth is that they have known us to very very little ….pero this is what exists!:P Even luck that we could escape making use of hollows between epochs of low load in the work ….Nos we were to Erts (to some 7km of Andorrra), there we stayed at the Hotel Palomè, about which I can only speak good things.

Finally we decide and we already have the updated house servant!! The hardware that runs at present is:

  • CPU: AMD Phenom (tm) 8450 Triple-Core Processor
  • RAM: 4 x 1GiB Kingston DDR2 800MHz
  • HD: 2 x 200GiB Digital Western
  • Mobo: Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H

We might have started the system that we had installed since the previous processor also belonged to the family x86_64 but we decide to realize a new installation since we wanted to mount servants virtualizados as what the system with the hypervisor, in this case KVM, does not need to have everything what had the ancient servant.
